Where did the hive come from and why did they enter our solar system?
The hive are from a world called the fundament. They wish to perfect the universe through killing off life that is weak, believing that if something is perfect it should not be able to be destroyed. They believe our truths of morality and law are false, as they can be broken. They were insignificant themselves, with short lifespans, until Oryx and his sisters were corrupted by, and made a pact with the God-worms, each taking a worm larvae into themselves. Oryx eventually became a god, roaming the universe to destroy civilisations, and to eat the Traveller, which they perceive as a false god that is spreading lies. They destroy and kill to feed the worm within them, who's hunger is insatiable and is essentially fed on by the elevation of the host's status. It will consume the host if not fed. To defeat Oryx, all his echoes must be destroyed along with his physical self. Then he needs to be killed in his Throne world to be truly dead. This is really over simplified. If you really want to know, read all the currently available 45 calcified fragment Grimoire cards =)

So are you saying we didn't kill him in the raid or was that his throne world?
-
Seems he's dead...unless we missed an Echo. His throne world was basically poured into the Dreadnaught
