The darkness, what do you think it is? I haven't read them all yet but I have ready some of the books of sorrow. The way I read it was that Oyrx and his/her 2 sisters were the darkness. The way they would travel through the universe devouring planets and species.

Oryx and his sisters aren't the Darkness. They are disciples of the Worms, which are in turn disciples of the Darkness. The Darkness seems to be some intelligence that can possess prepared vessels, like an Ogre that Oryx made
