Nah the guardians know of Eris. I do wonder how she found Crota and the hive and went missing for years before there was evidence of the hive tho. Didn't we not know what the hive was when we first encountered them?

We knew that the Hive existed, definitely. Thousands of Guardians had been slaughtered by them years before during the Great Disaster on the Moon. We didn't know they were returning to Earth
