How is zone control anything like rift where kills don't count?

There are two control game modes, Control where kills are multiplied by the number of points you have capped and zone control where you only get points from keeping a zone defended

Kills literally don't count for Zone Control. Only way to get points is from controlling the zones. Wish this would just be the permanent control
