Skolas? He is seen 3 times, but when you see him in PoE is not story driven, therefore optional, so he could be but twice. Death follows him on tarnished wings? Yes, in the form of old reef ships chasing him or time worn fallen ships due to vex tech. In PoE, he doesn't choose when to appear, Variks does. Variks is a teacher and a scribe for house judgement as per lore, and the other could be seen as Petra. Petra is a student and disciple of the Queen, and her hatred is a raging fire whereas Variks is simply kindling, a rage that he suppresses through challenges such as PoE but could erupt given a spark. Who will have the final say I shall determine could refer to the queen overruling Petra on taking skolas in alive, and skolas determined that by his display of cunning. Lastly, the last sentence is the description for Gally, which would have been the HoW raid weapon, gained from defeating Skolas. So my answer is Skolas Edit: also the title is riddle of the last which can look at the last dlc

 • So sorry, but no
Gally is not and never has been a reward for beating Skolas, besides a chance of an exotic from the chest
Actually yeah, it was supposed to be the reward for the House of Wolves raid that never occurred, which would have presumably been Skolas, but was replaced by PoE; but it was accidentally put into one of the pre-beta exotic loot tables, so they had to add it into the vanilla game. One of the devs said that, and it's perk "Wolfpack rounds" references Skolas, also Gjallahorn is a Norse mythology derived name as is Skolas.

 • Additionally, the House of Wolves was not the last DLC. The Taken King just dropped, starting off Year 2 of Destiny out of some 10 years

 • First off, Bungie doesn't plan that far ahead. Second, I need a link for that claim, because I doubt it ever happened. Third, it wouldn't make sense for Gjallarhorn to drop from Skolas: it's made from the armor of Guardians who fell at Twilight Gap

 • Skolas, leader of house wolves, self proclaimed kell of kells. Battle of twilight gap he was somehow prevented from being at with all the other fallen by Mara Sov as per Petra. However, the silent fang remained on the loose, and evidently got their hands on powerful technology to be able to get Skolas away from the nine, beings who are supposedly very powerful. Additionally, lore says the vault of glass technology existed at any point in time, but only in the geographic area of the vault. Skolas was somehow able to remove the time warping platform tech from the vault. Evidently he has some unknown power. Therefore, how was Mara Sov able to stop him from being in the battle of twilight gap. We don't know. Anyways, I digress. Silent fang could have scavenged the battlefield easily after Twilight Gap.

 • The Fang did not rescue Skolas from the Nine, the Nine released him. And what purpose would scavenging the battlefield for Guardian armor to construct a Guardian weapon have? If the Fang made it, it would be a lot more Fallen-like. The perk would also then have the insignia for the HoW, not the insignia for the Iron Banner

 • Then what's the comment your ghost makes asking how the fang could have got Skolas from the nine. And I'll admit you obviously know more lore than me, so I'll trust you on these

 • The grimoire confirms that the Fang had nothing to do with Skolas's freedom. The Nine released him

 • And another thing: Gjallarhorn was never accidentally added to a loot table. It was announced and showcased and hyped for a good while leading up to the release of vanilla Destiny. Hell, it was even in the live-action trailer

 • Ok I can't find the article I thought I had read. But even if that's not true, there are definite connections between Wolfpack rounds and the wolf house, Skolas and Gjallahorn, and the fact that Gjallahorn was fashioned from the armor of guardians that fell to Fallen. Either way, it's not the answer you're looking for so I'll keep thinking on it. Thanks for keeping the argument controlled and not dissolving into a whiny bitch fest like so many other posts on these forums. Good night for now, but I will figure this out.
