Look, those of us who paid for the new content deserve new content. Those that didn't, don't get it. Do you think that Bungie is going to create separate content for people that want to live in the past? Sorry. Not gonna happen. Their focus is on moving forward. You're asking for two separate games.
I get that it sucks. I do. But the game is evolving. It's not static. Aren't you bored with the old stuff by now anyway?

No-one is asking for new content that has not paid for it. They are asking to have the old content that was removed back. The crucible playlists (not level dependent) have been changed for one thing which means Vanilla players are not getting what they had/paid for. There is even confusion around whether or not they will get to do Sepkis Prime if it appears as a nightfall. BTW, I have the Taken King and I paid for it and it is very good but I don't let that make me dismissive of people with a genuine grievance.
-
I'm not trying to be dismissive. I understand the grievances that people have about this. What I'm saying is that with all of the changes, what people are asking for is two separate games. 2 nightfalls. 2 Iron Banners. 2 Xurs. 2 Weekly Heroic playlists. Basically 2 of everything every week. It seems like a lot for extra things for a small section of the community that a) still plays regularly and b) didn't buy or refuse to buy a $40 upgrade that has more content than the vanilla game. Eventually, can see them leaving last gen consoles behind completely, and then the shit is really going to hit the fan. I understand why people are upset. I get upset when my landlord raises my rent. But I can either pay more, or I can move.
-
No-one is asking for two of everything. No-one is saying Vanilla users should have the shield brothers, however, they should be able to do a tuned Sepkis Prime if it becomes the Nightfall, they should be able to participate in all the Crucible stuff they could before using year 1 gear and maps (COD allows people with and without map packs to still play pvp. Its not like the ability isn't there, we already have tuned strikes based upon light level etc and Crucible doesn't even count levels.
-
How is that not having 2 versions?
-
Because they already do tuned instances and the crucible stuff is still there and people should still have all that they paid for even if it did require a 2nd game because 1 year is a total rip off and saying stuff like, "COD 6 hour campaign." doesn't make it better, that is just meandering apathy falsely dressed up as pragmatism.

Comparing this game to COD in any way is completely ridiculous. Whether it be length of the campaign or how they operate when it comes to dlc. This is not COD. When something is dead, it's dead. Vanilla Destiny has been dead for a while now. Is it stupid that game modes have been removed from the vanilla game? Yes. Are the people who bought the vanilla game and no expansions continuing to support the game? No. So let it die. Vanilla is worthless now. Many mmos just shut down their servers when a game dies. No refunds. This is an evolving experience with a ten year plan. If it was COD, they would have just called TTK Destiny 2 and charged $60 instead of $40 to keep playing. So lets not compare the two at all. I get the basic gripe. But this is a different kind of game than what most people are used to.
Comparing this game to COD in any way is completely ridiculous. Whether it be length of the campaign or how they operate when it comes to dlc. This is not COD.
No it isn't, it is a fantastic example of players paying for stuff in the game that others do not but everyone still getting what they pay for and whilst we are at it, at least people can still play those games even if they bought MW2, it is all still there. What is ridiculous though is your landlord comparison because what your landlord would not do is remove the roof of the house/flat if you didn't agree to a rent increase, he wouldn't do that would he? He wouldn't say, "Okay, well whilst you sit out the final month(s) of you tenancy I'm going to remove the roof unless you pay more now." So before you start chucking words like ridiculous about check you have not said anything that could be construed as that.
But this is a different kind of game than what most people are used to.
This is an excuse for BungieVision not a reason,
-
No. If I didn't agree to a rent increase, I would be on the street. That's how the world works. If you don't want to continue to support an evolving game, you get left behind. This time that means you lose content. I swear to god people love to bitch. There are other games to play if you don't want to spend a measly $40 for more content than came in the vanilla version. Which, by the way, nobody really plays anyway. Hell, half the people bitching probably bought the expansion like you did. But you sure gotta have something to whine about...
-
No. If I didn't agree to a rent increase, I would be on the street.
No you wouldn't, you would have the rest of your tenancy before you had to move or at least 28 days notification period, which you could ignore and go through the court process which can take at least 3 months. People have a right to get what they paid for, no-0one is asking for more, you though want them to have less which is bollocks.
-
I never said that I "wanted" anyone to have less. You're putting words in my mouth. Scroll up. Multiple times I said that it's stupid that people are losing content and that I understand the frustration. I simply disagree that it would be as easy as you think to make two versions of the game, which is basically what you're asking for. One with TTK and one without. The problem is that the new content shares aspects of the old content. Therefore the old content gets changed in order to move on and allow the game to evolve. I agree that in a perfect world everyone would be able to retain what they paid for. I just don't see how it's possible without separating Destiny into two complete versions.
-
Not two versions, they already have tuned instances.
