Pretty sure she is the light ball guiding you in some missions. The light leaving her eyes before the explosion is a signal that she moved out of that body. She's up to something. I suspect she wants the taken army for herself, and this is a means to an end. Her and Eris came up with this plan so the guardians would help her take down Oryx. Just theories. I haven't read any grimiore on the matter.
