They were in contact with each other on the subject of Oryx's coming, but that was before the Battle of Saturn. If Mara is still alive somehow, as I believe she is, they could still be in contact

I'm guessing that it has something to do with the Nine and probably with the Cabal Emperor. We've seen a lot more of them in this DLC and based on his order to take out Oryx, I'm guessing it won't be long before he gets thrown into the mix.
