Exos,
How does wiping an Exo work? Do they have to die? So if Banshee died would he turn into Banshee-45? And who wipes them? Deep stone crypt?

I think that once their mind/memory becomes too corrupt, they manually wipe themselves. They don't have to die. Deep Stone Crypt is just where they are born, though it may be where they go when they wipe too. [spoiler]Don't know if you saw the convo in CoK earlier today, but Cayde was once a human[/spoiler]

The deep stone crypt card always intrigued me. Once I knew it was about the subroutine that first gave consciousness to an exo, I looked at the words differently. Particularly the fighting of the army. Some exos it seems, a minority, simply walk to the tower. The others, face an army they must defeat to get to the tower and often fail, multiple times I've wondered if the imagery of this card speaks to how successful the writing of the mind copy to exo frame was. IE: those that walked, the routine successfully wrote the mind copy on first attempt. Those that battle? The routine was not successful and it took multiple attempts/wipes. And the fact that the army is full people the exo knew? Maybe the exo were loaded with multiple mind copies (like the 227), in hopes of increasing odds that one would successfully write to the exo. And when they don't, the multiple mind copies are in conflict with each other, thus the "battle".

The Collector's Edition has a bit of Cayde's personal thoughts, and he says that he remembers working at Clovis and Ishtar with Maya Sundaresh, and visiting Saturn as flesh and bone. He remembers collapsing when everyone else did. [spoiler]...wait... O_O I just had an idea. Who do we know who worked at Ishtar that was sarcastic and loved making bets?[/spoiler]

Don't worry I know ruin though maybe cayde does not remember who he was before he was an Exo but gets flashbacks or dreams about himself as Dr shim though from the grimoire they don't seem to far apart in terms of character
