The difference is NOT about how "massive" the game is. The difference is between franchises such as COD that release a completely new game every year and games, such as most MMO, that let you keep one avatar to carry through along multiple expansions. In that respect Destiny is just like an MMO and consequently needs a MMO style financing. Whether they deliver enough quality in the game is another question all together, and something everyone has to decide for themselves. I'm cautiously positive so far, as I've really not seen much yet, but I respect if you feel differently. I still don't see how they can finance an ongoing project as Destiny for 10 years, if they can't use the MMO business model.

  • That's the thing, though; Destiny is [i]going to have sequels[/i]. You seem to think that the current game that we're playing right now is going to last for 10 years, but that's 100% not true (it was confirmed during the Marty O'Donnell case, too). The TTK expansion is just that; an [i]expansion[/i], not a sequel, but there will [i]be[/i] sequels. :P
