Always-On, Completely Necessary?

Casual Destiny player here. How many people think the addition of an offline-mode in a future update wouldn't be a terrible idea? I've been playing since December of last year, and aside from the occasional dropout of connection I can't say I dislike the need for it to any great degree. But I times I feels as if I'd just prefer to fly solo, or maybe simply complete my Daily Heroic and a handful of Bounties (which could be randomly generated fairly easily) and get off, and considering the state of Destiny as a "Shared World Shooter" and not a full-on MMO (at least in this point in it's infancy) it feels a bit needless at times. I also worry of the state of the game past the 10 year point, beyond which people are willing to support the servers. Without the saving grace of an offline mode, we're essentially going to have a paper-weight with potentially several hundred dollars worth of content on board and no means to access it. But perhaps you disagree? I'm very much open to discussion on this topic, and while I personally would like to see an offline mode implemented, I'm also interested in see the potential arguments against it.
