The Aegis is the shield in the Vault. It is used to destroy the Templar's shield and kill Atheon. During the Atheon fight, it binds past, present, and future together; every Guardian that ever fought, could have fought, or would fight Atheon is damaging him at the same moment. That's why you deal so much damage during Time's Vengeance.
Pahanin Errata was a Hunter who witnessed Kabr's fall. He became frightened of traveling alone, and so created the Super Good Advice, a machine gun with an AI, to keep him company.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think SGA has an AI in it because Pannin reasoned that as long as a mind could perceive him, he must exist. He built in in response to the powers in the vault that could delete you from existence.
