I'm personally pro leaving behind the weapons. If they let them ascend they would have to balance them out to be less op than they are. Gjallahorn is going to significantly less powerful causing people to use it less. That's going to happen to our messengers and fatebringers and ect for sake of balance. I've been on destiny since beta. Ik the grind and I have gotten every weapon and exotic attainable I'm the game from raids and such. Most things like fatebringers and black hammer are very op as a combo. So for sake of balance I support bungie's decision on yr 1 weapons and armors
