Yes, I use the Weapons of Light build like this all the time. Don't get me wrong, I still have to work on the execution, but when I'm on my game it works beautifully. The Blessings of Light build is weaker imo, but TrueVanguard has demonstrated excellent use of it. The Idea is to be really aggressive with your Primary and your Shotgun while exploiting your overshield for the extra survivability. It's very similar to my Radiant Skin+Red Death setup on my Warlock http://youtu.be/LVTPlIDO-qM
Your team might be unkillable, but the other team either won't get into a fight that they know they'll lose or just super your bubble.
That's fine, because my team can push up really aggressively while I hold our Spawn and kill anyone who tries to push me or spawns behind me and my team. That's the thing with the Defender; it's not about my stats, it's about being a team player and winning the game. Have you tried using Suppressor Grenades? They've always worked for me unless I whiff. The bounce takes some getting used to but they're extreamly useful.
If you're popping your bubble where you can snipe the other team, you're using it wrong and likely won't get any kills.
Well, that's odd, because I score plenty of kills with this method, especially on Sniper friendly maps. Of course you can place your Bubble closer to the center of the map and exploit WoD as cover. But even if I score Zero kills, I'm doing my job by shutting down areas of the map my opponents can use.
Yes, you can pop your bubble in time to stop a rocket... One rocket. If you step outside your bubble after that you're pretty much dead, and the other team likely has a super to counter. Don't bring a machine gun to a rocket fight, kiddos
I can always pop my Bubble preemptively you know; it does last for 30 seconds. Rockets have Travel time, you can pop them with a round or two (or just kill them outright with my Spear), duck in while they spam their next Rocket, rinse and repeat. It's not easy but it is possible. In the event that they don't want to push me and my teammates just feed them points, I can just wait a while until all the Rockets are spent while being relatively safe in my Bubble.
