Just saying, destinys story was always gonna be terrible. A games story is normally developed years before its actual release, that means that what we had at release was the story, which was created by staten, and guess what? It was all -blam!-ing terrible, none of the story was any good, none of it, if it was going to be better under staten's hands then at least some of it would have been at launch.
