Am I just a bad player?

While I feel I'm fairly new to the game, bought it in July and decided to get the DLC last month, I feel like I'm a liability on whichever fire team I join- I really want to do ToI but I don't want to let my team down. I want to do 35 PoE but even though I have a 34 Titan people don't like playing with someone who's never done it before. I occasionally have a good game on Crucible, but I normally end up with a 0.8 K/D. While trying to complete the Thorn bounty I used my void shotgun (the only void damage weapon I had) and I instantly get hate mail for using it. Has anyone else hit a brick wall where you don't know what to do because you don't like letting people down?
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to the #Destiny forum. • Ignore the hate mail about the void shotgun. A lot of people completing the thorn bounty have done so with a void shotgun. A lot of players are salty about shottys anyway due to the high number of players who hardly ever use their primaries and shotgun slide throughout the match.

Hate mail? Crucible is a shotty fest right now, who is taking the time to hassle you about shot gunning when about 90% of the players are packing shotguns? Anyway, don't give up. You won't get better without doing the activities. You will eventually get a team that will show you some good strategies. Pro tip, a lot of players gage stranger by their grimoire score. Whip out a YouTube guide and track down all those dead ghosts to get that number up easy. Most of the other score sources are grindy so that will just take time.

  • Hey at least your not me. My voice has not deepened in the slightest yet and I'm 13. I sound like I'm not even 8.(I'm not joking) so I usually can never play with anyone or do any multiplayer because if I talk they will kick me, calling me a, "squeaker" sometimes I lie and say my mic is broken so I don't get kicked immediately, and I've been able to complete some things that way, but most of the time they kick me, and my "broke ass mic."

    • This will never get responses because your question reminds destiny players of their sex life. Anyhow, plenty of people who play Destiny suck. The random drops are what keep those players in the game. I say if its fun do it. Try to find people who are more skilled and emulate their techniques. I don't mind bad players as long as they listen and I can count on them to a certain degree. I want to know what i'm working with. If they're reliably bad theyre better than a good player who doesnt listen because he thinks he knows better than the other 5 people on the team. I've had to kick good players from raids because they were not helping the team and as a result weaker players were getting killed quickly. The guy was tucked away racking up kills but he wasnt drawing fire or calling out strong enemy locations. Effectively, it was like 7 out of 40 enemies were missing but the rest were dividing fire among 4 or 5 players. I'll run you through PoE 35 next week if you let me know when you want to do it. I have 3 characters.
