If you look at the Article, Bungie actually went to bat for Marty, Activision stepped in and denied their claim for the music. Then the situation got worse, what it sounds like to me is Marty was disgruntal (don't get me wrong I think it's obvious why, and he had every right to be) and made the situation worse for himself. Coming from a manager view point, if I had an employee (right or wrong) who was disgruntle, slacked on their work due to being upset over issues, refused to do their job, and went out of their way to show out (states during press conferences would make outburst, interrupting the conferences). I would come to the conclusion as well to send on vacation, have a conversation and see how they perform when they return. It looks like it didn't go well when he got back. Also, the article point out later there was a "mad dash" to make changes to the story due to Activision asking for re-writes, delaying the game in the process. Bungie actually looks like a company who tried their best with their new bosses but lost at every turn. To say Bungie does not care about quality is a smack in the face of the people who poured themselves into making a game, that you obviously play or you wouldn't be here. To say they don't care about the fans is a smack in the face of the people who have made changes due to fan response, who are currently trying to make changes to make the game better and work daily to support the game. Before you call Bungie anything, take the time to seperate the two companies, Bungie is a company who is trying. Activision, is the company putting up road-blocks. Activision is the company that pushed Bungie and their best sound person to "Dark corners", they are in a corporate world now. The shares aspect of the article is the only part I think Bungie -blam!-ed up, they definitely did him wrong in that respect and he should be compensated. The game itself, if anything is to complained about is Activision not letting Bungie create what they intended.

 • I won't deny that at all, not saying this game didn't lack those items. I agree.

 • I believe Marty was trying to protect Bungie from what eventually anyway happened. There's a saying that goes like Don't do good things that seem to be bad doings. Maybe His motives were right and truthful but He mishandled things. Maybe His motives weren't right. The only thing for sure is that He wanted in a way for Us to enjoy to the full extent Our experiences and whether Bungie wanted it or not this make them look bad. Really awful bad.

 • I agree, he did want the best for his company, he loved the company. You are correct in turn he was looking out for us. This does make Bunige look bad, I'm just pointing out the instances in the article that shows Bungie actually did try and the instances since the game's release that Bungie has show that they are trying to fix things, to make them better. Do they always get it right? No, but they are trying, I see they are truly trying. Great conversation by the way, I'll be honest with your first post, I though I may be dealing with someone not informed and making statements out of passion, not knowledge of the issue. I see I was wrong in that respect, I want to apologize to you for that assumption. Even though we can not agree on everything, I think we both agree on the important aspects. Haven't had this much fun in conversation in a long time :)

 • Your English is impeccable if its not your first language. :) There are people born in America, who speak it far worse, I would have assumed from your comments it was your first language.

 • Bungie still is the one making the game and therefore hold the power over activision by not creating more content. They let this happen and i'm not letting them off scot free. I mean seriously who asks a composer to write all of the music for a game series for a decade in one go? No one that's who. The score has to be reflected by what's going on, it's a very basic concept. Also since Bungie has no idea where it will be 10 years from now it's reasonable to be upset by this. I'm just glad that he will be getting a piece of the pie from Destiny so long as his music is being used for the next 10 years.

 •
Bungie still is the one making the game and therefore hold the power over Activision by not creating more content.
I'm sorry, please don't take this the wrong way, I don't understand contracts, they do not have the power. I've read the contract between Bungie and Activision, there are so many clauses and determinations in it that dictate what Bungie can or cannot do when making the game. It even dictates how often DLC is to come out, what development cycles must be met. Listen, I'm not saying Bungie did an amazing job, they didn't, at best Destiny (Vanilla) had great gameplay, but lacked in just about every other area, story was non-existent, the structure of the game was disjointed and the progression system was tied to a RNG system which is only bad news. Yet, the game showed much promise, even early on reviewers could see the potential of the game of this nature and fans we have seen this too, I think this is why many still play this game, they see what Bungie can do. I say Activision is the problem, it's because they are, Bungie did make the game, they have some of the responsibility but when you are dictated to and shutdown during the process forced to change the story last minute, your hands are no longer your own and Acitivison did that to Bungie.

 • I'm guessing most of what we saw was done for awhile and then cut and chopped up into dlc by activison. To accommodate these changes the story was probably removed along with several other things...I mean it was confirmed that Peter Dinklage recorded way more Ghost dialogue than what we saw. That's the reason so many people have left. They saw their work bastardized and Bungie shouldn't have made the deal they made, but those guys left in charge are bastards for sure. They let this happen and they are ok with it.

 • I can agree with you there, many aspects of this game are clear, it shows that there were two heads thinking of one thing and you can see where it made a mess of it all. There is a saying that goes "Good employees don't quit their jobs, they quit their bosses." The new bosses are Activision, many of the founders of Bungie are gone, many of the Halo directors, Storyline creators are gone, and I honestly believe Activision is the cause.
