I'm starting to believe that after E3, there was such a turmoil inside Bungie and with key people leaving (first Marcus Lehto then Marty later Joseph Staten), Destiny fall into uncaring, unimaginative hands and what We know as Destiny Y1 was in reality Destiny Internal Build from at least 1 year before E3. Now, Destiny Y2 would then be the original Destiny we saw on E3 but with all the patches that would fill the lack of everything that plagued Destiny Y1.
