Most games are appealed to the "casual" gamer or to be "more accessible" which is why most changes are made in games or at least the most drastic one. Honestly even if the drastically changed games were a new series I wouldn't even give it a chance. Would end up being the cheap knock off of the original while having none of the appeal. The boxing analogy is more sad if anything, guess I'm not a massive fanboy of anything as if I noticed a series of mine was going down the drain I'd want nothing to do with new entries. I can still be a fan of older entries and such but no point in me sticking around for a game that has lost its way to me simply because I liked the older entries

  • Well, games were really difficult back in the day with less mechanics. For many games actually. Even fighting games...now there's all kinds of mechanics in fighters too, back before that it was basic stuff. Idk if that makes it more casual, probably for mortal kombat since there's block breakers anx x rays which I always felt were cheap as hell. There's tons of shit that's been added honestly. Like I said before, I mean I grew up back with arcades and shit seeing big ass lines for street fighter...tekken...virtual fighter...king of fighter games...seen games go from classic to turbo to whatever the fuck it is now with super gauges and massive renditions to the games play box, priority changes to specials you name it. Depends on what game you're talking about honestly. I mean...we can be competitive in games....but I doubt anyone on these forums anymore is a pro player, I remember a few guys were but no one gave a shit honestly haha it was kinda funny. The boxing analogy, yea it is sad when you see boxers get washed up and tarnish their glory just as it is to see a series you once loved to see tarnish theirs. It isn't always the case though. Sometimes you see redemption. As far as fanboy goes, perhaps fanboy means different things to us. I think a fanboy is someone who can't admit the game they're a fan of has mistakes. The defense mechanism kicks in. I can list out mistakes of games I like in open conversation, and I have here many times. I also don't care what someone else thinks about the games I like or play. I'm too old for that. Maybe 15 years ago I would haha

  • Games back in the day actually made you think a tad bit and that's all it really was, difficulty wasn't bad what so ever but everyone wants to be top class when playing a game for the first time. Dark Soul series is a perfect example, obviously people might simply not like it but some don't like it because they can't run around mindlessly and just win every encounter. This site has never taken competitive gaming seriously, I honestly don't either in terms of this site but I've been on Gamebattles and doing scrims for years. Fanboys in general are hypocrites, people who deny obvious things, have a one sided view regarding certain things they like etc. example, using people on this site with Destiny. Most here shit on the game every chance they get(putting aside when topics are posted here wrongly) they can name every mistake under the sun with it and tell people they should play better games and almost nobody complains about it no matter how many times said user does it. Replace Destiny with their favorite game and now you're wrong and a fanboy of something else despite it being an opinion just like theirs.

I get you, games are getting more accessible as time goes by...and gamers of yesterday are all grown up now...some of us damn near ready to throw in the towel with stuff taking up too much time. I feel like I should have waited on these damn consoles...especially with a kid coming. As for destiny...people do complain, it's just that they sometimes try to raise points and quickly are shot down...and with reasons as well. I've been apart of a lot of discussions over this, usually because they're being hypocritcal, or saying misinformation about a game like halo 5, and using that misinformation to validate their opinion. We see a lot of dev fanboy stuff here and it's pretty annoying, it just gets way overdone..on both sides...just as bad... I used to play destiny, made 1 last attempt cause I bumped into a friend from school and he loves that game...I just couldn't enjoy it though for many reasons. Some users do bash for no reason, but that's normal with anything. I used to post a lot in #destiny, and the feedback section. Eventually I just didn't see a point though. So here I am, talking about games. It's fun sometimes. Competitive wise, I wouldn't doubt these forums had a competitive end to it back when bungie had halo. I don't see why not, halo and the many people who boast stats easily can challenge each other, 1v1 or teams, whatever.
I'm aware of other sites, but none the less these were at one point halo forums
Not so much now of course, this isn't a halo forum anymore...but I'm sure it was really active in it's time. I do recall seeing you explain to someone why you post halo hate posts. If people bashing destiny bothers you that much though, why not just correct the other users? If they're spewing garbage with no substance to their opinion, check em. Hell, if something I've said bothered you, express it. I'm not one to be affraid to admit I'm wrong nor that I over reacted. It's the internet. Everyone's a loose cannon at some point.
You probably should have, I own both and honesty the TRUE exclusives games on both consoles are lacking and I could have waited out. I always get consoles early though so it's my fault mainly.
Well I quit Destiny after The Dark Below, I had the HoW with the digital pass and I didn't even try it out. #Gaming has been a dead fanboy hive since Destiny launched, atleast pre Destiny the topics were far more interesting and news worthy than "Xbox One vs PS4"
Competitive wise, I wouldn't doubt these forums had a competitive end to it back when bungie had halo. I don't see why not, halo and the many people who boast stats easily can challenge each other, 1v1 or teams, whatever.
True, Destiny isn't competitive in the least bit so maybe that's why people here mainly shit on competitive gaming. The problem with this site and the gaming community in general is people get upset when people don't like the same thing which is funny considering you will never meet said person. I don't take this site seriously enough to check everyone, would take too much time and effort.
