What's your interpretation of the nine and who or what they might be? Why do they exist at all?

The Nine are some council of beings located in the Jovian planets (the Outer System). They are in contact with the Queen and the Reef to an extent. We do not know what exactly the Nine are. They could be Awoken, Ghosts, Warminds, Ahamkara, Xur-like beings, humans, or something completely different
