thanks for reading, i've been trying for ages to get into the industry but there is no stepping stone to start....companies always want 5 yrs exp and etc.

Make your own game then. An App maybe to start with. There's game building software out there, better your time spent making a game than playing one.

well funny enough, i do have an interview for a 2d Illustrator job within a UK game company which makes online games

Good luck mate with the interview. Arrive 15 mins early. (Find out exactly where you gotta be and plan your route) Dress smart tho not too smart (games co after all) research the company. Shake hands and remember interviewers names. Bring a copy of your c.v and jobs spec. Thank them for seeing you at the end and express your interest in the opportunity. I was a recruitment consultant for 7 years.
