Shin Malphur was a renegade Hunter, renegade in the fact that 1) he was not resurrected in the Light, but rather gifted with it, and 2) his Ghost once belonged to Jaren Ward, his third father and his closest friend. After Jaren's death, he took up the Last Word, Jaren's pistol Dredgen Yor was a Guardian turned dark, using his corrupted Thorn, a Weapon of Sorrow, to butcher and slay across the system. As far as we know, he killed Pahanin Errata, Thalor, Jaren Ward and three of Ward's team before being stopped by Shin Malphur at the showdown at Dwindler's Ridge
