I had a tiny bit of interest in this in another post, and was suggested I create a post to encourage more discussion.
Do we assume that the reseting of Exo minds occurred during the Golden Age when we had the means to do so? I can only imagine that the technology required to reset an Exo mind was lost during the Collapse, so if we go by the amount of resets we can maybe get further into the past?
So from what I can see, Lakshmi-2 has had the least amount of resets, and not being a guardian means she has memory going back to the Collapse, and possibly even further? Possibly what makes the Exo Stranger so special is she has never been reset and has memories dating back to the Golden Age?
Have we ever paid attention to these individual characters ramblings in the tower to see if there is any relevance going back to the Golden Age/Collapse.
Or do we think Exo's just have a reset switch in the back of their heads (as in we can still reset now)?

Let's all just take a moment to recognize that the FWC leader is only on reset #2, while even Cayde is on his 6th. Suspicious much?

Well we know BUNGIE likes AI detiroirating right? It's probably that after a certain point of time, Exos start going crazy and then they have them reset so that they're not lost forever or something. Just saiyan.

Well in one of the Dark Age cards it talks about the Exo's having shattered memories and marching in columns with no self-awareness so maybe they somehow all got reset during or immediately after the Collapse. Hell Lakishmi-2 talks about events that happened around the time of the Collapse itself like London being burnt down by the House of Devils and Mumbaj being besieged by the Darkness itself. Maybe even suggesting there's something important in Mumbai since it's currently overgrown with vines and moss and was originally gonna be a patrol area like Old Russia.

Banshee couldn't cope with it and considering the deep stone crypt grimoire and the one thantonaughtic one with the exo. I believe the memories are only suppressed. Lakshmi does quote a darkness grimoire card which is from the darkness's perspective which is sort of interesting.

To our knowledge, the EXO were war-machines before their first reset (perhaps this was Deep Stone Crypt, edited in by some hackers that hated violence). If we take this as fact, Lakshmi has a fairly good chance of having seen some of the Golden Age, and most of the Collapse. Her knowledge of the Stranger clearly implies she was around back then too; maybe she is the only EXO to have never been reset, a war-machine as pure as the Vex.

We don't know if the Stranger has been reset or not.

If you stand by lakshimi long enough she says "You have seen her right? .. i can tell by the way you look at me" ... No doubt that she knows/has a connection To the exo stranger

Well there's an alternative answer to this. That number of resets, what if that's simply referring to the process of bringing back an exo from the "dead". They have no organic body to simply repair for a ghost, so how are they brought back? Ghosts aren't really designed to repair machines it doesn't seem, so you would have to assume that if they could (lore implies they can) it may not be perfect. Memories and such could get lost in the process.

I suppose we may be able to treat wipes if we equate Exos to smart ai. Remember that both Exos and a smart ai have a limited operational life span. In this case, smart ai become rampant and a threat, and have to be taken offline. I doubt one would be far off to draw the conclusion that a memory wipe prevents the same fate for Exos.

I think it's something they do themselves, maybe, probably. I read something about them being able to dream about a tower, and an army they have to kill to reach it. It was referred to as the place they are born, I assume they go their to be re-born, reset.

Feel bad for banshee now...
