TTK is actually worth it's price and how we should stop ignoring guardians from foreign countries

Now a lot of things have been said lately about TTK and it's pricing not being in alignment with the amount of Content offered. Looking at this objectively, I have to disagree. First off, let's look at what came in Vanilla Destiny to begin with shall we: 20 Story missions 11 crucible arenas (including exclusives) 6 Subclasses 6 strikes (including exclusives) 4 Patrol Areas 4 Crucible game modes (the originals being clash, control, salvage, and skirmish) 1 Raid Now, let's take all of that and look at what is being offered in TTK (that we know of): 10 new story missions 8 new crucible arenas 3 new subclasses 4 new strikes (including exclusives) 1 new patrol area (This is probably where it hurts content the most, but I am getting to that) 3 new crucible game modes (at least) 1 new raid. You may ask "Well why does it matter? It's still less content", and this is my point. Taking all the above and putting them into fractions we can find the percentage of what each one was to the original. So, this is what it would look like: 10/20=0.50 8/11=0.72 3/6=0.50 4/6=0.67 1/4=0.25 3/4=0.75 1/1=1.0 Now, if we take all of these combine them and find the average, it comes out to about 0.62(or 62%), just barely missing the 66% mark or 2/3rd of the original content(and price), but the thing within this is that there is more than just the above being added. We are also get new weapon types, ghost shells, Iron Banner is actually getting it's own set, and much more. The Taken king is a huge leap for Destiny, we are getting so much new stuff (and yes I know that some people will have access some of the new features, but that is how expansions work most of the time) and it honestly seems like people are judging it way too harshly for the amount of content they are receiving for the price they are paying. Let's step back about 15 years ago. Getting an expansion in this time for any type of RPG cost about the same amount as The Taken King, you might be lucky if you got one new area to play in and maybe 1-2 new characters to play with again with a $40 price tag accompanying it and sometimes it was even REQUIRED to be able to play with your friends. Even worse there are actual fans of this game that are being ignored entirely. In foreign countries people are having to PAY EXTRA for their digital copies because Activision refuses to change it. When people bring it up, others in the community tell them just to not pay for it or get a job. This is actually unfair to these players and it should be fixed. Someone should not have to pay more just because a company doesn't understand exchange rates. With that however, I bid you all farewell. I hope that you all enjoy TTK and for those that still think it's a waste....I hope that you enjoy your other games as well.

    • People in Europe are used too getting screwed over on exchange rates. Even when the euro was close too twice the worth of a dollar, we'd pay the same amount of them. So yes that €40 and £40 price sucks, but it's nothing new really. I'm not yet sure whether i'll think TTK is worth the price though. For the full price game they had a ton of costs on developing the engine and programming all the base systems of the gameplay. I really think getting those gameplay systems right takes them way more time and effort than some new levels and gun designs (which have the same stats most likely). So for me a €40 DLC would only feel right if it's absolutely packed with content, because for that price i could just as easily buy a full game that is. It feels like they're keeping a lot of update from us till TTK, just too make the DLC look bigger. Because let's be honest, weapon tuning and vault space should be free upgrades anyways. And if they managed too properly test the weapons first, they wouldn't need too balance so much at this point. I voted that i'm waiting on reviews on this one. If it turns out that they finally learned the basics of story telling and the new raid is awesome, i'll probably decide too get it. For me HoW felt overpriced though, so that might be what's making me more cautious. Hoping TTK proves too be amazing :)

      • The people in foreign countries just should buy it from a U.S. Seller. If you remove the UK from the Amazon address it'll bring you to American Amazon and you will be able to buy it for the same prices as Americans

          • Should also b noted that the red bull "quest" is a ttk "story line/arc" excerpt that has been contracted to redbull for exclusivity until Jan 2016 for products only sold in the USA. At end of contract the content will be released to all purchasers of ttk. Wondering why my overpriced £40 which as no one can argue is an inflated value in comparable price when matched with the USA, is already confirmed to have content removed for which apparently I'm already paying for in order that bungie/activision can generate income from completely unrelated merchandising that alienated the entire planet except of course the USA for 5 months. Now when the content is finally released will it b released so close to a new dlc drop that the desire to do it at that point is negated. Kinda like the exclusive content that's dropping finally for xbox. Who wants last year's exotic exclusives now that they are not moving with the game. Thanks bungie, due to the current business/contract model you have, you clearly shown that for the same pricing for all formats you really are holding back content that frankly shouldn't be because you have now made it obsolete before we even got to try the content that in fairness we paid for just like everyone did on playstation systems. I understand business's require to make money but excluding part of your target audience in this manner is probably going to backfire when people realise just how cut up this game will become when bungie/activision are offered piles of money to cut content to sell (insert any brand). They clearly will pretty much do anything to make cash from this product including cutting content which they have now confirmed when it does become available it will be obsolete. I for one have cancelled my preorder of ttk. Please also understand that I am a massive fan of destiny and am thankful for the friends that I have made thus far on my journey, however it appears that no matter how much I try to love my favourite game and defend it as often as I do, I will be moving on to new pastures with friends for other reasonably priced and non excluding games for which there are many. Sorry bungie but for me from my point of view you appear to care very little about your consumers and even less about the ones on xbox systems. Your end of year and going forwards plans are now transparent for all to see.

10 new story missions True and not true. Here's why. True- yes 10 new missions added to the original story. Not true- There are at least 3 known story quests with five missions a piece is and extra 15 more missions. So it actually has more than what the game came out with.

                • On top of that, there are all the quest lines to complete. You have the crucible quest, the gunsmith quest, Quests for each of the factions, Petra has a loooooong quest (this was talked about on the PD podcast), Eris will have a quest, etc etc. There is so much to do beyond what has been listed.

                      • THIS should've been $20....Nobody would complain about it. Besides, you get a whole bunch of new features WITHOUT buying TTK, so you cant really include that as part of the expansion... Shave Babies All Day

                          • I 100% agree with your opinion if TTK is worth it. However, when people say the game is bad, you can't really argue their opinion. Just because someone plays 1000 hrs does not mean it was a good game to that person. For example, I grinded every weekly and daily event for almost 2000 hrs. Once I got the Gally, I put my controller down about 1 hr after I maxed it. This went on for 2 months till the HOWs. The only reason I played ( I realized) was to get the one weapon I needed. The game is a slot machine grind for equipment. The content is middle of the road in difficulty so as to keep the casual player hooked and playing. I'm looking forward to TTK because I'm addicted to killing and hoarding. The hrs argument is only valid in that if you were addicted to Destiny, you saved money by not buying other games. Kill Crush Destroy.

You started with a flawed premise. You assumed OG Destiny was worth 60 dollars.
