It is also theorized thst Rasputin didn't simply turn off solar defenses, he turned them on either:
A.) The earth, for the reasons that you state
OR
B.) The traveler, to prevent it from abandoning humanity as it did with the fallen

It actually states in the grimoire that the Traveler was finished running. She was going to make a stand here because she was tired of watching her children die. But I still kinda believe Rasputin crippled her in order to release a strong enough burst of Light to push back the Darkness
-
That is assuming Alpha Lupi=The Traveler, which does seem highly likely, but as far as I know it hasn't been proven 100 percent
-
If you read all of the Dreams of Alpha Lupi cards, it seems fairly certain that she is the Traveler. But yes, it has not been 100% confirmed
-
I agree that it's most likely Here's the real kicker though, assuming that Alpha Lupi does=Traveler, why should we trust it? Are said "dreams" from before or after the collapse? By this I mean did the traveler pick humanity because it actually saw something in us that made it believe it could defeat the darkness, or because it had no choice?
