Same could be said with most games though first play throughs are usually the hardest. Then as you play it more and get use to it. Even the hardest encounters feel like a stroll in the park. Just because you know to turn left hear block at that moment dodge right attack 2 times take cover there. Etc.. Souls is amoung the hardest of modern games But for me. The hardest I've played is castlevania 3.

I judge a games difficulty on my first playthrough only.

It's not any easier any other time, you just get used to it. Souls games aren't hard, they just seem like it at first.

It is easier. You know enemy placement and move sets. You know what weapons you're proficient with and you know the boss attacks. O&S took me about a dozen tries my first playthrough. Two tries my second. It's definitely easier.
