Bungie calls Hive a Darkness infused race. We now know. The Fallen once had The Traveler and ran from The Darkness. Is it possible The Hive was a normal race that also had The Traveler but was not able to escape The Darkness.

  • It could be. Or perhaps the Traveler shunned them, and they embraced the Darkness

  • Have "The Fallen" actually embraced the darkness? (That would explain the name we gave them.) I got the impression from AnonPig's posts that, once they lost the Traveller, their Fall from grace caused their collapse/the Whirlwind, and their attacks on Earth were an attempt to regain their previous glory. Or maybe they still covet their previous position, but have fallen so far and into corruption, that they can't see how embracing ANY Darkness would be discongruent with a return to the graces of the Traveler?

  • The Fallen aren't affiliated with the Darkness. It toppled them just like it toppled us. They want the Traveler because they remember her and the Light. They want their former glory back

  • Maybe so.
