My take?
This is an example of the few ruining it for the majority. So many LFG groups were "Max Gally only" and with RNG, it was super broken in Year 1. Year 2 afforded Bungie a chance to reset it all, creating a new meta. The super OP weapons are being left behind for the moment. It might be possible that they get upgraded to Year 2 in the future after new favorites have been established.
My biggest take-away? We had one full year to play with a certain weapon set. Now they're bringing new weapons in. Year 1 was beta and damage control. I'm personally looking forward to Year 2.

Frankly, I'm more torn up about my black hammer, efrideets spear (no final round bs), and VoC getting left behind. Gally is cool, but I never really depended on it. (Outside the first few crota raids at least lol.) The armor is also more of an issue in my eyes, god forbid they leave behind the helm of pocket-sand-14. Either way, I've been fairly impressed with what I've seen so far of the upcoming weapons. I just don't consider the weapons getting left behind that big of a deal. Especially since it wouldn't surprise me if they started bringing some of them forward later in the future. They did say on exotic blueprints that the list we saw are the only year 1s coming forward "for now." I don't think I'm the only one who caught that wording either. I'm happy enough with all the other things I've seen that I'll survive. I think all the people who do have a problem with it will survive too. Just a sneaking suspicion.

I'm pretty sure you and I are the same person (minus the Efrideet's Spear). Sure, I'm gonna miss Black Hammer (lol, the tank on Mars had no chance), my VoC, and my Saint-14. Gally, I hardly knew ye. But I'm always excited for new guns and new exotics. And agreed with the "for now" wording, hence my own "for the moment" wording.

Glad I'm not the only one who caught that wording. Seems like so much of the destiny community has tunnel vision, but with their hearing. I see panic all the time over things that have already been addressed simply because someone only heard what they wanted to lol.
