I don't understand the outrage over old gear needing to be replaced with new, better gear. Every video game based around loot, leveling up or role playing follows the idea that gear you get early (and we are very early into destiny if it's going to be a 10 year epic) need to be replaced with better gear later. This isn't new. At all. Whatsoever. No loot game has the first weapon you get be on the same tier as closer to endgame gear. Endgame in Destiny is always changing. This isn't the same year 1 game where bungie suddenly decided to hit the reset button. This is a continuation of our story and game. We need better weapons to combat oryx. Bungie isn't making old weapons useless in the same content they've been useful in. They're just leaving them where they belong, in the past. They're not making you get rid of them either. Out vaults are being doubled. That's awesome. Exotics are not end game gear. They're unique items that are for min/maxing your play style. They could have easily said all year 1 exotics won't be upgradable. Instead they're bringing some forward now with the possibility of the others coming later. Destiny is evolving and moving forward. It's time our guardians did as well.

  • I agree. I've played a lot of RPG's, WoW was my favorite, so I understand how expansions work and the gear reset HOWEVER, Destiny's different because in a lot of RPG's, weapons are stat sticks and don't dramatically change the way you play. I understand leaving legendaries behind, and honestly, if they got rid of all year 1 exotics, it would be bit harder to get behind but I'd still play Destiny because it's a fun game. But, they're only bringing a select number of exotics into year 2 instead of balancing the OP guns (thorn, gally, TLW etc) they're just leaving them behind. That just feels really unfair to people who genuinely love using Thorn. Again, still love Destiny, not a hate post.

  • They are balancing guns as well. I feel like all year one exotics will come forward eventually, just not immediately.

  • If destiny wants to leave certain gear behind that's fine by me however, if you are going to nerf or buff a certain gun before an upcoming expansion, then you should make it so that gun can progress otherwise that change was almost pointless. Necrochasm is about to get its long awaited buff. A gun which required hours upon hours to get and I'm talking about people who got the Husk of the pit before they upped its dropped rate. A gun which requires that much time to get and turns out to be bad and then finally gets a buff just so the Devs can announce that gun won't progress to the next expansion. Why. Where is the logic in that? Same goes with hard light, IB, ghorn etc Unchanged guns should be the ones that are frozen in time. Guns like truth, thunder Lord, invective, red death etc Let us experiment the new forms of these guns rather than the same old crap.

  • I will say I was perplexed by that, if anything it shows they're still going to support them at a later date. See how the changes go in crucible (where they're still completely viable) and then see how to bring them forward.
