Wouldn't the sheer size of the Traveler disrupt the gravitational balance of both the Earth and the Moon? Wouldn't the Traveler's constant hovering over the Last City have an extinction level event force on the Earth?

The Traveler is a self contained dimensional shift that has no mass... Or some other space magic reason.

I guess that would depend on how far the traveler is from Earth and what it's orbit around it is. Also, what's the travelers mass? The gravitational pull of the travel plus the moon would probably cause a significant amount of problems.
