You won't be at 34. You'll start at 20 since light level is a completely different mechanism now. It resembles how much damage and armor you have now

You know, I just posted asking if I could change my gear to be 20 before the patch and dlc launch, and people said I'm stuck at 34. Bungie needs to straighten this out.

That's 100% false kid stop talking out your ass. You ARE the level you are currently at. And the boost is to level 25 when making a new character so there is no way at all they knock you down to 20.

Not talking out my ass guy misunderstood the concept of the light level when they explained until I read this planet destiny post. I also saw a lot of level 20s running around in the gameplay vids I've seen. My bad [spoiler]calm your nips[/spoiler]

There was something said about starting at the level you are now and not dropping to 20 when TTK comes out.
