Am I getting this right?
So I pre-ordered Destiny ($60+tax) and bought the Expansion Pass ($35+tax) on day one for a total of $95+tax. I have played and enjoyed the game through-out Year One, despite grievances and good times. I am looking forward to The Taken King, but....
Does my Expansion Pass not cover it? According to the site, as a current owner of the game and expansions, I can pre-order The Taken King for another $39.99 and because of my 'loyalty' I get a shader, sparrow and an emblem?
That would bring my total to approximately $135 spent for the Destiny universe...
BUT, if I had waited until now to purchase ANYTHING, I could spend $59.99 and get EVERYTHING that Destiny currently has to offer????
Including the 'special loyalty' bonus items if I get a Guardian up to level 30 before August 31st?
Please, someone (preferably from Bungie) tell me that I am misunderstanding this. I look forward to a Reply...please.

Hmm...I came in late to the game. Destiny = $20 DLC = $35 TTK collectors edition = $80 Seeing as I paid $170 for the Black Ops II Care Package Edition, Destiny seems a smidge more of a deal by comparison. But, yeah, Bungie seems to be trying to get more people on board with their Legendary Edition game. It's their job to make money so I'm not complaining about it. Granted I complained A LOT with Black Ops II with it being all laggy and shit but, eh. This is common practice now sadly. After year one, I just naturally assume any game with DLC will have an ultimate edition game for half of what Day 1 players paid. Fortunately, for me, I don't play very many games so it's not a huge investment for me every 3-6 months. Even if I were a Day 1 player, still wouldn't complain as I've gotten my entertainment value out of this game.

1 ReplyIt is kinda messed up how all the Year 1 people paid $60 for the game, the Expansion Pass was $35, if you didn't buy the pass then the two Expansions were $20 each. But new players will get everything at a $135 value for just $60. I paid $100 for Destiny on Xbox 360, and when I was getting it for my new Xbox One, I was only able to buy it digitally as a $60 bundle with all the DLC, so I did. A few weeks ago I pre-ordered Taken King for $40. So I paid $200 for the game so far. Then my friend told me he went to GameStop, bought the game for $20, and the Expansions were free because he bought them on 360, so he paid a total of $115 total and I though he got a great deal. But if you haven't paid for the DLC and have the disc, you can sell it for $13 at GameStop, then buy the Taken King Legendary Edition at $60 and get everything in the game. If you've never gotten the game, you get everything for the same price as people who got just the basic game at launch. I don't think the first Expansions were worth $20 each so I definitely feel like I've wasted money now. I love Destiny but I've had a bad experience with it financially. But at least all the future DLC will be free.

2 RepliesYou would need to have the base game beforehand, so I suppose you can rent a Destiny, get a character to lvl 30, return it, then but the legendary edition and still get the loyalty rewards.
