Sometimes grimoire takes a while to update. To speed up the process try this:
[b]While Destiny is open, go to settings > change profile (next to where you change characters) > log out of your profile > log back in[/b]
This [u]sometimes[/u] unlocks grimoire you have earned

Still hasn't shown up. Is there a known problem with skyshock?

No there shouldn't be. Sometimes grimoire takes a while to unlock. If you've played sky shock map it will unlock eventually

Do you have to be there for the start of the match? Every time I've been on it I've joined a game already in progress

Im not sure about that. I would maybe try finding a game and playing through the entire match. Maybe that will work for you.
