Get used to weapons and armor getting stronger as time goes on, that's how long running loot based games work. Coming from MMOs I wouldn't expect to use a Short Sword Of The Ykesha 10-15 expansions down the line, it was 1337 at the start but by the next couple expansions it wasn't as useful as the new stuff.
