Where did you get your...?

I remember proposing this quite a while back when Xur sold Red Death for the second time. A lot like today, dozens of special snowflakes flooded the forums with their tears and frustration. I can't blame them that the void in their life that is their lack of achievements is supplemented by these virtual shiny weapons in a video game. But it got me thinking; this game is all about shared experiences in overcoming and defeating challenges that Bungie put in front of us, whether it's Atheon in the Vault of Glass or a team of three Sunsingers with exotic hand canons, fireborn and fusion grenades in the Trials of Osiris. From these activities we have a chance at some awesome loot, legendaries or exotics. Why not have a 'source' for each item? Eg my first Red Death was from the Deathsinger on Normal Mode back when TDB dropped. You could have (when inspecting the weapon) 'Obtained from defeating the Deathsinger (NM)' or something similar to that. I can understand how this 'branding' could divide the community even further, but it gives our weapons a history and origin which is always interesting. Thoughts?
TL;DR give loot obtained from PvE and PvP activities a source info when inspecting - activity (and difficulty - PvE only).
