Why do these kind of complainers make it seem as though Destiny is only about the weapons? I honestly do not care about any of my legendaries, the exotics are the important ones. I can't wait to try out new weapons that are being developed with new ideas and mission statements. It's really going to make weapons more interesting and I believe this change is good. The new weapons are probably going to be so much fun to try out and use...I'm at least not going to complain until I've actually tried out the new content. Edit: I realize I just said a lot about weapons even though I ultimately don't think that should be the focus of this game. At the end of the day I just like Destiny. It's fun to play and if Bungie wants to push new stuff I'm just going to have fun with it...I'm happy to grow with Destiny and it's changes and if the game ever becomes something I don't like, well, there's PLENTY of other games to play.

  • Due to the shear fact it's taken them a year to apparently construct story into the game. Due to the shear fact the only reason people complete raids, iron banner, trials of Osiris and other end game content is for the reward of weapons and gear. That's why I complain. I never complained about MGS4 because the story was incredible and so was all the weaponry. That game is 7 years old and has done a better job.

  • I honestly think people need to get off the bandwagon of hating the storytelling in Destiny. It's really not that bad and it's ridiculous to be whining about it. If people only play content for gear than they deserve to feel burnt out, play a video game for fun and entertainment and you'll start to enjoy life a little more.

  • Not really. You'd say the story wasn't that bad if you've literally never played a game with a story. It does matter because I can then care about what I'm doing in the game and that I'm having an effect on the game world. Games are meant to be fun and entertaining as you say, yet how can I have fun if I don't have any knowledge of any characters in the game? We deserve to feel burned out. Why? Because we love a game to the point we've done almost everything and keep coming back? Even though there's no story? You're right. This game will turn you into a zombie.

  • Different strokes for different folks. I've played story heavy games and usually grow tired of it all quickly. I can play a ton of Elder Scrolls just doing my own thing and creating my own stories but sit me down with The Last of Us and I just want to rush through it. I sit there thinking the whole time "this would make a better movie than a game"

  • I completely agree with you there bud. Even games like Borderlands and old games like Ratchet and Clank had brilliant stories that weren't too serious like Last of Us and such. I'd have just enjoyed being introduced to a strike boss with a cutscene, skippable after the first time of course haha, to immerse you into the experience. Like if Valus Ta'aruc called you a little bitch and that he was gonna crush you for wiping out his guards you feel more involved instead of here's a bullet sponge have fun.

  • Hahaha...yeah I get it. I would actually be ok with that, even expanding on introducing you to a menacing enemy like they did with Omnigal in The Dark Below and how you kept running into her. Maybe they'll make things more interesting in The Taken King.

  • Exactly. I'd have loved more interaction with the bosses and such as it built up the final battle with them and made it more interesting. Sepiks Prime is just a ball in the sky with no real context. JUST SHOOT AND HOPE FOR A GOOD REWARD haha

It has a really interesting world and great lore...but I never said anything about story in the first place. All I said is that the game is fun to play, and whether that's with a Fatebringer or a new Omolon weapon I don't really care, I've had a lot of fun so far and I trust I will continue to with the new content.

  • The question is do you feel like your character is a legendary part of what is going on? I don't... I have fun in the crucible tho.

  • Actually...the question is do you need to feel legendary to have fun playing this game? I absolutely do not. Maybe I'm just old school or something, I just play games for fun as a hobby...sure I like the lore and I can get wrapped up in interesting discussions but at the end of the day if I'm not just simply having fun I need to find something new to do.

  • My context of legendary, simply means do you feel a part of anything in the game? I don't, hence I don't find Pve fun, they could have easily made it fun, or more fun depending on the players view.

  • That's cool, you're entitled to your opinion. I've been playing games since the NES era and for me it's gameplay first and foremost. If I like the setting or the story (like the Legend of Zelda series) than even better, those are the games that really hook me, but at the end of the day if I'm having fun that's all I care about.

  • Im surprised by your response. Because legend of zelda has a great story and gameplay in unison. It seems you would hold this game to a higher standard having played the old school games. I played them as well.

  • Maybe we just see it differently. Games like A Link to the Past have fantastic gameplay and a great setting and lore, but the actual storytelling throughout the game is pretty light. If not for Sahasrahla (the old wise man) there would little explanation of what's going on. I guess when I play Destiny, I like the setting and the lore and the gameplay is really fun. The story is enough for me to be interested but its not really good storytelling. Same could be said for Dark Souls and that's why I love the first one.

  • To each his own of course, I haven't played dark souls but another game I loved was MGS4.. The blend of storytelling and gameplay was superb! When I found out Liquid, was playing the role of bad guy to rip the system, it gave the final battle dual meaning and made you feel some love for the enemy you hated most of the time lol.
