I dont know about you, but I dont want to keep using the same weapons for the next 9 years of destiny. I want to use new guns. Yes I want to keep my fate bringer and black hammer and I want a lot more vault space to keep the rest of my guns while also getting new ones, but I also dont want the whole community to constantly be using the same guns after every expansion to come out. So dont take this the wrong way, but I think that it is reasonable to make the old weapons stay the way they are and get new and better weapons to continue the experience. However I do like your post and the amount of work you put into it. Nobody can deny that your obviously really passionate about this issue, and so I respect your opinion on this.

  • What is wrong with allowing players the choice, though? You can use new weapons if you want, no one is forcing that choice upon you. However, the rest of us are forced to do the same thing as you? Does that really sound fair to you? Basically, I'm more in favor of EVERYONE being happy, instead of only one side of the fence getting what they want. We can all get what we want without having to step on each other's toes.

  • If u listened to the rest of the conversation u would know that I completely agree with you, its just that bungie has already made the decision so we can't do anything about it now.

  • We could refuse to buy TTK? We could continue to raise awareness to this problem and what Bungie/Activision is doing? I've personally ruined at least a couple thousand sales for them.

  • Ok, so I agree, like you I am looking forward to the new weapons. However there are a handful of trophy weapons that were likely hard fought and grinded for by most who have them. I'm thinking Vex, Fatebringer, Black Hammer, etc... So just because you can get an arsenal of new amazing weapons, why should this mean your old favorites need to be rendered obsolete? Having them in hand as a viable option won't take away from any of the new ones. It just means you have more options and choices to play. Some days I feel like wrecking with Vex... Other days I enjoy hand cannons... And then other times I like Scouts, like my Fang... My gameplay evolves with my mood. I don't think allowing my old hard earned favorites to ascend will prevent me from seeking out and using new weapons at all.

  • THEN YOU HAVE THE -blam!-ING OPTION TO USE NEW GUNS. No ones forcing you to use old guns!! That's your choice. WHAT IS SELFISH IS SAYING I DONT WANT ANYONE TO EVER BE ABLE TO USE THEIR HARD EARNED GEAR EVER AGAIN, it should be obsolete and collect dust or destroyed! That is selfish. Option one u have a choice, option 2 u don't. And the vast majority by a mile believes In option 1, so step off

  • Let us have the choice wether or not we want to use the old ones. Doesn't seem that complicated

  • Even with ascension theres no guarantee everyone will be using the same weapons. Some will use new ones. Some old. Some in between.

  • It's not just about the items. We can all agree that 1) Destiny is not exactly overflowing with things to do, and 2) DLC/expansions are supposed to make a game bigger and better right? Making the items obsolete makes the activities associated with them irrelevant as well...and so we go from 3+1 PVE endgame activities to 1....and think of the noobs as well, TTK is meant to draw in some new players as well entice back players who quit before TDB even launched. What I say above is probably more important than this final point, but still, are the majority of the players against upgrading/ascension and constantly making the (ignorant) argument that other MMO's do it, so ADD that they really believe anything in this game is 'old'??!! Destiny's been only out a year FFS, that ain't old! It's my working theories that 1) this new 'sacrifice' feature may well be the 'new' ascension+transmog all rolled into one, and 2) the Devs may well finally be adding couple higher level difficulties to the 'old' endgame activities that will also drop the 'old' items but with the new higher stats.

  • I very well agree with your point. However this game is not an mmo. I dont know why people assume that it is or that it is close to an mmo, when its not. It is not even open world. So why are players comparing this to an mmo? Its not even old either. And to answer your question I am not against assending old gear. Im just not seeing a point in complaining to bungie about the weapons being obsolete since they already made the decision to do so. I mean how in the world do we convince them to change their minds? Thousands of people have Been explaining their a pinion, yet when bungie makes a decision, they like to stick with it for months until they decide that they might have -blam!-ed up. But again I am totally with u on this one.

  • Oh I agree it's not an MMO, I don't even think it qualifies as MMO-lite.
