I get your point but selling it once more before the taken king seems like a good idea, seeing as it probably won't be the best gun for long, maybe not the next time he comes but at least before the taken king

No they intended that the gjallarhorn will still be the best gun in the game. That was always the intention but it needed to be nerfed. If its the best gun in the game a xûr sold it everyone would have it then they'd be forced to nerf it more and make it a regular rocket launcher.
