And now I bought two manuals and started trying to figure out how to play and force my siblings to play. Was this a bad decision?

No absolutly not. DnD can further expand the mind and make people be very creative with their minds and it can one hell of a time to play so you mad the god damn right decsion!

There's this place in my town called Good Game, where it mainly hosts tabletop games, and you can buy other stuff there too. It's unlikely that you'll live near a branch as I doubt they have stores outside Australia, but on the off chance there is one near you, it'd be the first place I'd look for people to play D&D with.

Warhammer 40K is better

Depends on if your siblings really don't wanna play or not. If you win them over, no. If they show adamancy, try finding others to play with.

I walk buy this game at the store all the time and consider trying it.

Immensely.

The first edition is the best edition.

Don't buy anymore manuals. Just look up the 5e handbook and just use home brew systems and junk. D&D is much more fun when you can play like how you want to play.

i wish i knew someone near me who knew the rules, so i could just show up and play.

I used to play with my siblings. Made a bunch of characters but never got a real campaign going, just did random dungeons. I'd recommend finding people who are into that sort of thing to play with. It's way more fun that way.
