Agreed. New stuff is fun. New stuff is great that being said making what we have now spent a year getting and savoring obsolete is horriffic. If players like the old let them cherish it and keep it viable. If they like new then....you get the picture. No reason force only one or the other on the community. Been an avid fan but I'm gonna end up cancelling preorder seeing as how if just wasted an entire year

  • Thats what i dont get. Everyone who plays destiny wants the new gear. Having the old stuff available doesnt change that at all. However, making old ones useless or turning them into parts, changes everything. I'm not willing to grind a raid 50x for a weapon thats only gonna be here a month or 2. This all equals less play time as far as I'm concerned.

  • And I don't know about anyone else, but I personally feel like a badass when new players look at my Pre-Dark Below weapons and helmet and ask where I got them and I answer "I've been around since the start of this thing." It makes you unique and stand out from all the newbies who are joining the game. The new stuff is great for them, but we old players have immortal status because of the gear that we grinded for back in Year 1. Trying to demean the value of that gear by making it "not as strong" damage-wise compared to the new stuff is just an asshole move that makes the past year totally pointless in the long run.

Yup there's no reason not to please both types of players. None whatsoever. It's just insane how willing they are shooting themselves in the foot and loose a massive chunk of there community by having everything they've done and worked for an entire year be flushed down the toilet

  • And the only ones who are going to stick with it are those who grind for no other reason than the pure sake of grinding. Grinding to Grind, that has got to be the most ridiculous game design I have ever seen. Its like that prestige system used in Call of Duty, you spend all that time leveling up and unlocking to totally reset all your progress for the sole purpose of getting a little rank thingy that serves no actual purpose outside of showing people how many times you have reset yourself. But then again, I shouldn't be surprised. Destiny is an Activision game as well, after all. Should have expected that same kind of pointless nonsense. At least in Destiny we were able to justify it by thinking we could keep those things with us and continue using them all throughout the game's life span, but nope. We have been told that we would be bored doing that, apparently. And since someone else has told us how we feel, we must obviously feel that way. Cause: Bungie Logic.

And actually; in all of the marketing and "community communique" to this point, Bungie had implied that we'd be able to take whatever equipment we wanted through our entire ten-year journey. "We want you to get attached to those things. We want you to build your Legend. We want every piece of equipment you have, to have a story attached to it, and we want you to be able to show it off throughout your entire Destiny legend." Remember that? It has been relegated to pure bullshit by the revelations of the GameInformer article. But how many of us purchased the base game with that claim being one of the major reasons? i know it was a huge part of my decision to spend $100 USD on the game and lolexpansion pass. Now we're being told "Meh, we changed our minds."... So... why should I spend another dime on this blatant lie?

Yeah, I mean this is an FPS no matter how much people don't want to admit it. All weapons are unique in their own way, its silly to get rid of old ones because that means you're throwing out content. Which there NEEDS to be MORE of everything. I fail to see how having MORE weapon selection is a bad thing. And if they're doing this now? Since they already tried doing it before with the Dark Below, what is stopping them from continuing to do this going forward? With each new installment just scraping all your old shit and lieu of newer things. Its literally a 100% grind fest for absolutely no actual accomplishment.

  • There's a reason i no longer play play "classic" mmo like war craft etc, and here it is. Destiny was something refreshing and new. No longer. Oh well good things must all end at some point

  • *Nods* Its a shame, really. And me? Hell, I played the original Phantasy Star Online on the Sega Dreamcast, which I can't help but notice how Destiny was apparently trying to mimic it. I mean, the later game in that series on the last gen consoles, Phantasy Star Universe, literally had you playing as "Guardians" and you were fighting the forces of darkness. Sound familiar? XD Only PSO/PSU did a MUCH better job with the whole damn thing. I REALLY wanted to play PSO2 but its only in Japan >_< PSO2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSdFJfWncJo

  • From a money making standpoint is completely asinine as well, with game title titans such as black ops, halo, and another gears of war up and coming, you don't just take everything your player base has worked for over the last year and axe it off at the knees. It's just unreal

  • Yeah, and I would think they would be especially concerned about The Division coming out which is basically the exact same setup as Destiny only with a lot MORE going on for it. Like Open World PvP that actually matters and serves a purpose.
