By definition Destiny is considered an MMO. "A video games capable of supporting large amount of players simultaneously". I see your point, but Destiny is a game that is always changing. And changes will bring new weapons into the game. Weapons that will be better than the previous ones. If Destiny kept allowing you to ascend weapons from the previous year, it would completely defeat the purpose of adding better content and weapons. In 10 years I don't want to be using Fatebringer, Black Hammer, and Gjallahorn for everything. EDIT: It seems that people are comparing my definitions of an MMO to other FPS like Halo, CoD, and Battlefield. Also, Destiny is not anything like PlanetSide 2, but they are both clarify as MMOFPS Let me clarify something. Some MMOs can have servers that can hold thousands of players at one time. However some MMOs differ. This is the definition provided by the Internet. Destiny may not be able to hold many players in one server but it can hold massive amounts of players through other servers. With that being said, I'm not saying that CoD, Battlefield and Halo are MMOs. Many MMOs contain team oriented endgame experiences. Destiny has strikes and raids. ESO has dungeons. Etc Etc. I am not saying that FPS are MMOs because they lack the endgame content that destiny has.

  • With all due respect: 1) weird spot for edit 2) your opening line was the definition of an MMO, and then you saying it is an MMO. 3) the max players allowed in one instance in Destiny is 16 (the Tower). That's not even close to the definition provided.

  • "Most MMOs have one persistent world, however some games differ" It might not hold that many people in one server but it's maps are quite large and can simultaneously hold large amounts of people

  • Yea but I don't think that it classifies as an MMO at that point. Every game has massive amounts of players on the same server, but i think what makes an MMO, an MMO (sounds better if read aloud) is that at any given time, any player can waltz over to the other and interact without any sort of server swapping. I mean MMOs do have different servers, but it's like 5 servers holding thousands of players wherever they may be, but they're always connected. We may have to agree to disagree, but I just wanted to point out the other side of things. :)

  • I understand your definition of a MMO, but Destiny has not properly fit a correct MMO type of model, and that's good to me because this is not the type of game Bungie decided to make with Destiny. In typical MMO's it is commonly accepted (but not necessarily a rule) to leave old gear in the dust because there's both a ton of gear, and because the rarities of gear is ranked by level. Destiny just isn't that kind of game because the lack of a broad access to a large impersonal arsenal, and because they don't have this ranking system. There's other reasons of course, and they might be introducing this ranking system in TTK, but then they wouldn't be implementing it properly because there's no exotics at different levels such as level 40 exotics being better than level 20 exotics. With all that said, I am (hopefully) obviously for ascension of year 1 legendary gear.

Thank you for expressing your beliefs in a non hostile way and taking my opinions into consideration. I completely understand you want the weapons you deserve to be apart of your load out. I do, however, believe there will be a way to upgrade raid weapons in TTK. (Why else would there be a nerf to Black Hammer?)

  • Most dressers have drawers, however some differ. I could be talking about anything with a drawer. Just because MMO like aspects are in a game, that doesn't make it an MMO. Lol enjoy the food.

  • Massive: "Exceptionally large." Again the number of players in a lobby may not be exceptionally large, but the amount of players playing online at one time is exceptionally large. Let me break is down. Massive = Exceptionally Large Multiplayer = A mode of play involving more than one player at a time. Online (Does it need explaining) Lol. You can't take changes, can you? There will be better weapons in the future. Trust me.

  • If the new weapons were actually better than the old ones, I would agree. It's just Bungie being lazy. Instead of new weapons with amazing perks, just make it so that the old ones can't do anything. That way, any weapon is an improvement.

  • You should read the new section I added to the post. One thing you might be forgetting is that Destiny is actually going to have proper sequels, I.e. "Destiny 2." MMORPG "expansions" are their equivalent of sequels, which makes it more understandable that they make large overhauls to the game, but TTK isn't that kind of "expansion," it's still a glorified DLC.
