What a terrible comparison. In MMOs you can get upgraded gear 5x in an evening. You get new crap all the time during the butt load of content you are playing through. None of them are special because they are replaced in 20 min with another that is slightly better. It works because there is so much to do. In destiny you repeat the same thing 100s of times for the gear. The gameplay is great but it's the same thing. If the guns aren't worth the grind then is it worth playing Crota 100 times for a black hammer or whatever item you want? Would you really care to do all that just to use a certain auto rifle a few times before the new one comes out? I wouldn't...

I see what your saying but it's not a terrible comparison they are releasing new content along with the old so it's becoming more an more like an mmo and also in a mmo you don't get the armor love you want /need off the bat it takes multiple runs for you to get it and as you hit the next teir of weapon guess what that weapon you had for maybe a few days or a month depending on how much time you spend on that lvl is useless so my comparison is a correct one to use

But who is gonna do Crota or VOG when the vanguard gear is a much higher lvl? So it's not really adding it's replacing. With etheric light you have a reason to do the older raids. To me this is adding to the game. People new to the game would have 3 raids to play. Now it will be 1 raid and 2 things to do for fun a few times but that's it. If the point is to get people to play more. Why not give them more? I really like playing destiny but with the non ascending idea, I will just wait for the next dlc rather than repeat over and over again for a certain item.
