It's really presumptious to assume that items in WoW mean nothing to players who spent months farming for them.. They have the same meaning as guns in Destiny. Guns in this game are just one of 9 weapon classes that have slightly different stats and perks, determining how they're best used in combat. Hey, that's exactly like weapons in (older) WoW! If you really wanted to argue the point, then I'd say thay WoW weapons are more meaningful due to the amount of effort required to get them. In Destiny, it's all random. You can get almost any exotic from doing pretty much anything (some exceptions to this), and you could do it on 3 different characters per week. In WoW, you had to farm a specific boss fight on one character per week to get a chance at what you want/need. And then beyond that, there are other people in the group who need it just as badly as you do. There's a lot more effort involved with getting the weapon you really want, and in the end, you end up with a much greater personal experience.
