I feel you on this. The only reason to force us to move on is because it increases the grind. Mmos do this because its how a skinner box works. Its like being hocked on crack always chasing that sweet loot drop high. Why chase the dragon if you already have him locked away in your vault. Instead of adding to the game more weapons and armor to an already great assortment of gear they must replace the gear. Otherwise you would play the game and beat all the content and be happy and move on to a new game. They obviously don't what that to happen.

I would gladly pay for the expansion if I knew I could keep and ascend my old gear and have more vault space, and pay for concurrent expansions after that, who cares how much I play as long as they get me to pay for it? One of my reason I play and a lot of others play is to collect the weapons, I played skyrim to collect shit and that's why they had all the weapon walls and plaques, Bungie doesn't get that, give us a weapons room then we can leave our old gear at least even if it becomes obsolete.

It makes [i]no[/i] sense. I'm still going to give them my money, and play all the activities, so why do they need to [i]force[/i] me to use the new weapons, too? Why not let me use new weapons [i]and[/i] my old ones?! DX

Because you might only play through once or twice and move on to something else. If your chasing the loot drops battling the rng you are much more likely to stick around replaying the content until the next dlc is released. It's then more likely that you'll buy the next dlc and repeat the process.
