no, you dont get it
we should be able to choose which weapons we want to use, fatebringer is great, but maybe I can get a similar weapon with void or solar damage, a special weapon that i love using or a machine gun as I dont have a preference there yet
we should be able to pull certain weapons from each expansion, + vanilla and create the ultimate arsenal, unfortunately HoW weapons were garbage so it didnt allow for that
and, also, no, I dont think anybody expected to carry weapons into Destiny 2, but this is still Destiny 1

i do get it. you don't understand that there is only so many things they can put in the game. by adding in obsolescence, it creates a feeling of newness. personally i enjoy trying out new guns and gear. you won't know if you like something else unless you try it. you people complain there isn't enough new stuff to do, but you want to do it with the same gun for the life of the game? sounds a bit hypercritical to me.
