I'm not cuz the only thing that's bad about it is it's illegal. The same scientists that said weed is bad said cigarettes were good for you. There's not really any negative impact and it's much healthier than alcohol or cigarettes.

  • One glass of red wine a day is far healthier for you than one joint. Statement destroyed, try again.

  • Oh you sure did destroy me. 1) I'd like to see scientific proof. And 2) how many people stop at one drink? Very few. How many people stop at one joint? Most. In fact, a joint is normally shared between a few people. So how about you "try again"

  • There's a friggin ton of research and proof regarding the benefits of a glass of red wine. Are you serious?? Many people that have a glass of wine at dinner are perfectly as capable of stopping at one glass as a pot smoker can stop at one joint. As far as stopping at one joint: Over 90% of marijuana users drink as well. Don't give me that just having half a joint bullshit. Destroyed again.

  • I never said one is bad. I said most people drink more than one. And people drink and smoke? Great that doesn't mean anything I never said they didn't. So still destroyed a grand total of 0 times :/

  • Saying something is better for you than alcohol or cigarettes should not be your safety standard. Marijuana is a narcotic, and slows down your reaction time. In driving, that is incredibly dangerous. And anything that messes with your brain is dangerous in some degree. The only argument for weed is the same for cigarettes and alcohol; if it were banned, the black market trade would just increase.

  • That's why driving while high is a dui... It shouldn't be illegal all the time

  • I'm not saying it should be illegal, I'm saying it should be regulated, and it should be regulated better than tobacco, so the tobacco companies can't put things in weed that they do in tobacco, such as tar and battery acid.

  • Well I definitely agree with that

  • I don't expect you to agree with the reasons why I think it's bad, and I respect your right to choose, so my stance is that at the very least regulation should prevent people being taken advantage of as much as possible.

  • Narcotics by definition slow down brain function. It's what defines the substance as a narcotic. If someone can win gold under the influence, good for th, but that doesn't change this FACT.

  • I also have seen plenty of people who took it act like morons, so there's also the anecdotal evidence that it is messing with your brain even if it is wrongly classified. My view is that like any other drug, it should only be used when prescribed. We wouldn't even be having this conversation if it was about using any other prescription painkiller for recreation. Drugs of this nature affect the brain. This much is proven. Using recreationally usually means long term. Any drug used long term, whether legal or not, can lead to complications. This is a stance that is against all drugs used recreationally. I'm not supporting tobacco and dissing marijuana because it would cut into tobacco sales, and I'm certainly not one of those who is against marijuana because it would damage the logging industry. There are uses for marijuana, but recreational usage is dangerous just like with any mind altering substance. That being said, I still would rather have it legal than illegal, because regulated drugs wouldn't have the surprises non regulated drugs still have in them. Obvious exceptions are that meth and heroin and other such drugs of the highly addictive nature (and yes I know marijuana isn't highly addictive) should never be made legal, because there is no safe way to use them.

  • Anecdotal evidence over time is still evidence. Also, name calling doesn't impress me or make me believe you've been in this field professionally. And what is wrong with wanting it regulated? Every time an illegal drug is unregulated and someone buys it from a dealer, there is a risk that there is something else in the mix that wasn't requested. For example, there was a man who bought a cheap bag that had ground ragweed in it, and got an allergic reaction and was hospitalized. As for evidence, THC has proven addictive properties. On top of that, it is common knowledge that people act differently when under the influence. What causes behavioral change? The brain. Its very simple. I'm not trying to stop you from your precious addiction you've spent your whole life trying to defend, I'm just trying to make it so that when a poor fool gets addicted, its not because a shady dealer enabled him, and there are systems in place to help him. I'm not talking ultimate regulation either, I'm just talking at least the level of accountability cigarette companies are held to. Insulting someone gives you no ground, especially when they are not even attacking your addiction you are so keen on defending.

Im not an addict, and there has been no proof of addiction, as a matter of fact its been the contrary. You really know nothing about what ypu speak of. Im done here this is nonsense. People like you rub me wrong.

  • I'm not saying that it is okay for them either. I'm just saying there at least needs to be something in place to keep dealers from taking advantage of people. If you want to buy weed, I want you to be able to trust who you buy it from. I've said why I think it's bad, but that doesn't mean I don't think you have the right to choose. I just think that if people have to smoke it, there should be the least risk placed on the consumer as possible, and the most risk placed on the supplier.

  • Legalization will allow education to take place, as well as make the black market drop it as a source of income since prices will plummet as availability increases, that alone will take care of the majority of your concerns. I dont buy weed specifically because i dont trust most growers. Anyone doing this for profit will not hesitate to poison others for a buck, the tobacco industry is living proof of this and it is heavily regulated and taxed.

  • I am in agreement about legalization. As for the problems of poisoning consumers, weed seems like it probably would be adopted by large cigarette companies, which is why it needs to be regulated. Imagine what they would do if they had free reign on what to put in it. I'm arguing for regulation so those companies never have the chance to put tar in marijuana the way they do with tobacco.

Then vote for legalization so the people can have the power back in their own hands where it should be.
