So Bungie just told us..
That the day The Taken King releases.
All that gear your grinded for for hours on end and worked hard to get is becoming useless.
All that ascending for nothing.

Devil You Know and Revelator have same base stats.
Red Hand IX and Lone.Rebel have same base stats.
Deadshot Luna SR1 and B-Line Trauma have same stats.
I'm so happy to dismantle my favourites for identical overall base stats DUPLICATES.
Everything will continue to be the same.
Yes "move on" to "better weapons".
All that changes are the name, colour and a slight adjustment to the models.. The attack value goes up.
Yet THE BASE STATS WILL DUPLICATE.[/b]
Edit: Yes this is my first MMO.
Yes I love the weapons I am currently using.
Yes I love playing Destiny, gameplay is incredible.
Yes I will complain when things piss me off.

Edit 3: If you're happy spending money for your weapons, that you worked hard for, to become obsolete then good for you.
I chase the weapons. You may chase armor, grimoire, experience or enjoy doing the same thing week in week out.
Insults don't affect me, in fact it shows how low your intellect is.
"They said wait" they shouldn't have to.
They shouldn't let people jump to conclusions.
They shouldn't let misinformation be released.

Final Edit: After reading many constructive replies and having checked in on Destiny today. I've decided I'm going to have to line up all my weapons and start cutting them out. Keeping all exotics and useful crucible weapons and those I consider to be useful.

That out of the way im torn on deciding ttk looksactually really good but so far the new weapons we have gotten have been worse than the ones before. I mean of icompare HoC with tracking and cluster bombs to a freaking void rocket launcher with shank burn it's obvious which one is better. I wouldnt have a problem woth them making previous weapons basically useless as lomg as they r actually equal or better.

Hey I'm spending 40 dollars to use the same old weapons and armor I've seen for the past year!!! Money well spent not Wolves made me quit destiny because of the eterhic light so looks like I'm going back when ttk is out.

You can't have fate bringer be the King of PvE forever. Acension was brought in mainly imo for armor so you can have the right perks for IB and still be max lvl

So they are still going to be top guns for the majority if not all the of the expansion story mode and maybe the nightfalls don't know what the level cap will be. It's just the raid they won't be so useful on I imagine. To me it looks like they are just kind of phasing them out rather then make them useless straight off the bat

It would be so boring if you just used the same weapons for the entirety of destiny though. This is a good thing, you'll have new weapons to chase that will be better, and the weapons you love know will help you start your new chase. This is going to be fun and it'll keep the game fresh rather than doing the same thing for 10 years.

You have to understand that your current gear will now be "frozen in time", never able to increase in power again, so go ahead and delete them because we won't give you vault space. No seriously...frozen in time. [spoiler]BUT, if for some reason time thaws we will make sure you know a few weeks after you delete all that old shit. You can always grind again for it because it is better than our current offerings. Increases hours played after all.[/spoiler]

1 ReplyIt's messed up because I bet in a later update they'll change their mind, and everyone will have already deleted their stuff. If they don't delete it, they won't have vault space for new stuff. You're screwed either way.

In an mmo, your weapon is only a data value. The only thing important about it is how much damage it does. In destiny, you get a feel for the weapon. You grow comfortable with it. To have that taken away from you every year seems to me like they're getting rid of weapons as soon as you grow comfortable with them.

3 RepliesThey "Bungie" has not informed or misinformed the general consumer in regards to any gear as of this time. Until an official statement from Bungie comes out and addresses The Taken King level up system and gear, I suggest people just to keep calm and carry on. Cheers!

They will introduce guns that will make you fall in love all over again. If they do this and put out HOW type weapons then burn them at the stake.

I think they should still give us the option to ascend legendaries so it doesn't completely invalidate all the grind we put in, just make the ascending material extremely rare or something so we still have to try out new guns
