• This might be a little long, so please bear with me. There are just some things I would like to say, personal things, and community things. For starters, today I had the privilege of going up against a fireteam of 6, some of them were Dames, others were Safegamers (it was on the PS3 since I haven't upgraded). And although I joined half way into the match, it was a pretty close game. Although through some luck my team came out on top. But after the match I had an idea of sending them a message. I was going to thank them for the match, and that although I joined half way in on rift, I enjoyed the fight. And that I was proud of them (saying this as Guy sounds a little weird, but it's true) for doing what they do, and having fun at the same time. And most importantly, that I honestly look up to them. Now, I know that sounds really weird to say. Yeah I look up to the Dames and Safegamers. But it's because of all the stuff they put up with. Honestly, I don't want to be them (that would be creepy), what I do want is to have their integrity and their resolve. Because that's what showed the most to me in this video that was included. That video, as how I took it, was inspirational and just down right needed. And the last thing I wanted to say was that I feel that this video needs to be seen by every guardian, old and new. Some may or may not agree with me, but honestly. I don't care, this entire response is just my personal feelings being put out there. Either way, I'm glad the Dames are around, they give people someone to look up to. May the light shine upon you guardian.

  • Additionally, For the "men" in here who are asking for this issue to just die already. Look at how the majority of the "men" in here are addressing BelleBunny. They are the exact reason this topic, is still relevant. Until there is a noticeable change, this topic will remain relevant.

  • From the looks of this thread, The Dames are doing a great job. I see quite a few "who cares" "this isn't even an issue" "stop shoving this in our faces" type of comments. This means you are putting pressure on people. They are being put on the defensive. When your opponent is no longer fighting with a level head, and have resorted to childish comments such as "who cares", they are being dismissive. That is a great thing! This means they are getting closer to their breaking point. I dig the video. It was very well said, and very mature. I salute you BelleBunny and the rest of the Dames. Keep up the good work.

  • You know, there is sexism in the online world. Yes, people are going to be racist, sexist, ageist, and find any other reason to put one another down. Yes it's truly horrible. But there are FAR worse things that are happening this very instant. Yes, there is something worse than one person in the first world being put down by another person in the first world. There are people who are dying. They are starving to death. Dying of dehydration. People who are being decapitated for no more a reason than someone wanting to show power. People die every day for reasons that could easily be solved, but instead you decide to focus on the first world problems. Aside from that, rich people problems. People are being beaten, tortured. Chained to machines and work until they die of exhaustion. Then they're thrown into a ditch and they abduct another to take their place. But that's thousands of miles away. Okay, let's talk about more serious problems here at home. How many "wild" children have yet to be discovered? How many are being chained to a child's training toilet for months or years? How many people are being mugged or -blam!- or killed here at home? There are more serious problems out there and some people devote their time, energy, and resources to it. Or they devote their entire lives. Decades of fighting disease or intolerance. Real intolerance, not this bull. You wouldn't know about that? Being separated for years from your loved ones. Facing danger every single day. Hell, even the armed forces are better off. They're trained. How many Red Cross workers or humanitarian aids are trained to fight? Quit complaining and do something. In 3 months, I'm shipping to begin training to protect my country. To protect the rights that half of the days you don't think of. Not because I think I'm going to change the world, but because I want to protect the little shreds of happiness that I can protect. Then I'll share that happiness. That's how you can put your energy to better use. People complaining about this make me sick. Go suffer for an entire lifetime. Then you'll have something to complain about

    • Don't take this the wrong way: While I agree that in some cases (other than this) sexism is a problem. But these things are not big issues, and the fact that you made a 15 minute video about it shows that you really do care. So please, don't be that person that is constantly concerned about how "everyone is equal" because in all honesty, there will always be people that will be jerks, and that's part of life. There are a lot more things to worry about than people saying a few nasty things to you. Nobody is discriminating you.

    • Wow at some of the men on this forum. Women have been oppressed with game involvement since the 90s, so saying that having an all girl gaming clan is sexist or discrimination is stupid. Having a place to play, talk, and interact with other gamers is exactly what a clan is for. I know clans that have age requirements, that doesn't mean you hate kids right? Is that stupid? The fact that we have to label females who play video games as "girl gamers" shows little to no respect for them as just a gamer as anyone else. Seeing as females are the minority of the community, I don't see why they couldn't join together and make a clan. There should be more minority made clans around to be honest. I respect the clan they made and I see why it was made. I don't think anybody want to play a game with somebody and eventually get belittled, disrespected, etc at any time during their playtime. When they're surrounded by likeminded individuals, they know that wouldn't happen.

Seriously, People are getting killed for their last name in this world. Babies are being drowned by chinese doctors, tigers, lions and elephants are being made extinct for erections, Governments are literally massacring their own people, Oxygen is becoming dangerously unbreathable, and 4 people own more on this planet than 7 Billion. Oh but you girls get harrassed while playing an online game, then feel the need to shove it down the public's throat (who didn't care to begin with) so yeah, you're going to get hate, you deserve it. You aren't helping anything, you aren't changing anything. You only make the people who blow up our trade centers absolutely right with your privileged (and sexist) views.

          • Games like football I see points to argue Co gender. But I've spent 30 years in the gaming world and the toxicity of it just grows. Wether just trolling are legitimately being a dirtbag unknown. And it's not just this community it's the gaming world as a whole. Military still struggles with this today but we video gamers should be able to overcome all this hate. Because in out world you can be yourself or anyone you want and rise above the crappie we normally wade though. I'm disappointed but unfortunately expected all this. But proud of those who have stood strong. Will I apologize on behalf of my sex no even if it was all men that did it. Why because it would be moot. If they required someone to apologize that nothing to do with it, the trolls or worse won. Get right gaming world, embrace all and do your battles in PvP with the tools the devs gave us. Not with words of hate and threats.

Many of the negative replies or assumptions going on in the chat are very obviously coming from either people who are jut negative general or who haven't watched the video and assume I go on some rant about how sexism is the only issue at hand here and everyone needs to side with the dames. NOT the case. <3

As an older man who's a gamer, I've played enough online video games to know that a whole lot of men, or worse, boys, don't exactly conduct themselves well when there's a female in the room. Plain and simply, they just don't know how to act. Sometimes it's a matter of childish sexist remarks, and others it's like they just discovered they have a penis and here is their reason for having it. It's sad and embarrassing at best, so it is no strange wonder to me why they might want to reduce all possibility of that kind of foolishness by playing with other females. I'm honestly amazed at the amount of people that seem to have a problem with it. To me, if you're one of those people crying and raging about it, you are in all likelihood one of those people that just don't know how to act and part of the reason they want to play in their own clan.

                    • Hello fellow guardians, Everything has trade offs. This single sentence is never been any more true now. This video and post were meant to show people trolling is not cool and needs to stop. That is a great reason to make a video and should be commended however, thanks to the topic matter being "controversial (for some reason)" it has started a flame war in the comments. That is the trade off for doing something like this. Creating content about a controversial topic will get people amped up. No matter how good your intentions are all a video like this will do is split a already divided community. Frankly, barely anything done on the internet to promote kindness or respect just ends up backfiring. The best thing to do about not liking something (related to online anything) is just to ignore it. I'm sorry that this tactic seems childish or wrong but it is the only way people see results. I hope people notice how futile making a video is, or writing a comment. (Which is kinda ironic because I'm writing a comment now) but these are the truths about content like this. Fellow guardians, Respect all, love all, people are behind everyone of these comments and videos. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THAT.

                    • My fiancée is part of the D.O.D Pink Variant, I would be rage worthy if she received those kinds of messages, we as a community came so far to have a few let us down and that's not okay. The only way to solve these problems is to be more accepting and forgiving as a whole, that doesn't mean accepting the assholes, it means bogart in these kind of people, they aren't accepted in our community, they shouldn't be accepted in any community, I mean I can understand slight sexism if done in jest and to a close friend. The person that it's directed to hopefully takes it as a joke. But otherwise any hate should be extinguished. Like many problems in life, you destroy the source and the problem is resolved. Don't worry Dames, you have my support in Destiny.

                    • Belle, as a 360 dame member, I'm trying to follow your lead against the trolls trying to start fights, but the amount of idiocy in response to your message is overwhelming. "Your asking for it by making an all girl clan" So a woman is asking for -blam!- threats for playing games with other girls? Your message is a good one Belle, and the solution is one of two options. Isolation of the infections mass, or to kill them with kindness. Unfortunately, I don't have the same strong constitution you posses. I've played games for as long as I can remember, and joined dames because my Fiancée (who I play daily with) joined up with Dad's, and they have always welcomed me into raids and groups along with Slithermgs (my fiancée). I have little to no harassment because of my gender, but I am not blind enough to deny that it does happen to others. You and other dames have been the recipient of R.A.P.E. threats, and it doesn't matter if your male or female, its not ok. -blam!- isn't a laughing matter, or a joke, and it happens to both men and women. And the attitude of "its the internet, get used to it" is a toxic mind frame to have. I would trust Dames, Dad's, and SafeGamers to play with my children should they decide to play. I have never seen negative comments in Band, or in the fourms or in chat, from one Dame to another. It's a positive, helping community from what I have experienced and I'm glad to be a part of it. What people seem to be missing is that, no one is forcing women to join Dames. And if males want to join, their more then welcome to join SafeGamers, consisting of men & women. Dames is a woman's choice to play with other women. Because it's what makes them feel comfortable. And just because we join Dames doesn't mean that we shun players from other Clans. I am a Dame, but I have run many raids with mostly Dad's members, along with my fiancée because it's just how and when I play. It's my choice. But the dames have been there when no one from Dad's was available. One dame let her boyfriend play on her account because he wanted to run POE with me and my fiancée. Dames doesn't discourage playing with other Destiny community members, but they also represent not putting up with filth from peoples mouths like what happened during the stream. The threats and harassment. It's like a woman taking a self defense class. Does that mean she's asking to be ganged up on and beat senseless or r.a.p.e.d. because she took the class? No. She is simply making a choice for herself. If people don't like the choice the women of Dames have made, their more then welcome to not play with us. We don't need their toxicity bringing us down and poisoning our members. There's plenty of others who would be glad to play with Dames members, and vice versa. :) keep on going belle, you have an awesome message that you've been saying from the start.
