It's about invulnerability. Why is this in a FPS?
You blink out of rockets, sticky grenades, and melees. You know, things that you shouldn't be able to negate the damage from when one class doesn't even have the ability.

You sacrifice a practical jump for the ability to move quickly. Maybe blink/catapult are in the game to make rockets less effective and give people a reason to use hmgs. Its definately annoying to go up against a good blinker but its kind of like shoulder charge where you only notice the people who have mastered it and ignored the ones who keep hitting their heads on the ceiling or meleed an inch to soon.
