Thank god female gamers have a man like you to defend their honor. Can I polish your armor?

Ridiculous argument. I'll advocate for women's rights, racial rights and gay rights despite not being in any of those groups. It's not wrong to voice support for what's right.
-
Uhh... what are you talking about? Who was arguing against the rights of any of those groups? Unless you're talking about the right to not be offended on the internet, which NOBODY has, or ever will have.
-
Your white knight point exists to belittle men that support women's rights. That's stupid.
-
Why not advocate for men's rights?
-
Because he's a homophobe who disdains same-sex relations.
-
Because men aren't treated poorly because of their gender. It's like asking why I don't support straight rights or white rights. There's nothing to fight for.
-
Like Dawn said, if you fight for women's rights to not being offended on the Internet, why don't you simply fight for the right for any person to not be offended on the Internet?
-
I don't fight for women's rights not to be offended on the internet. I fight for women not to be targeted because they're women. Insult the way someone plays the game, but targeting someone because of there lack of a Y chromosome, skin pigmentation or sexuality isn't something you should have to be offended about. I don't get insulted because I'm a straight, white dude, I get insulted because I'll use blink shotgun. That should be the case for everyone.
-
Targeted? You mean targeted for insults. So you are fighting for women's right not to be insulted based on their gender. Why don't simply fight for everyone's right to be insulted based on their gender?
-
Can you ascend that armor with etheric light?

Only for year 1

So what if he posts defending DoD? How about we acknowledge that the internet is a cesspool and when it treats humans of either gender badly there is nothing wrong with someone posting support to remind DoD, and all other functioning adults, that not everyone is like you.
-
Edited by The Godsmith: 7/31/2015 12:54:47 AMBecause "functioning adults" need a constant hand on their shoulder to guide them from all the bad anonymous strangers on the internet.
Functioning adults don't need that.
Also, female gamers need those same anonymous strangers to swoop in and try to speak on everyone's behalf about how sexist the internet is.
Functioning female adults don't need that either.
Lol.

How strange you don't understand solidarity, empathy. You use White Knight as a lazy shorthand but what do you really mean? You don't like a show of kindness? The OP isn't particularly paternalistic. However your response is. Your knee jerk reaction places you very clearly on the side of the guys in chat posting all the shit. You can understand then, why your opinion is suspect.
-
Edited by The Godsmith: 7/31/2015 1:49:38 AMExactly how is my response paternalistic or knee-jerk in nature? Did you read it? Also, "kindness" loses its meaning on the internet; anonymity dulls the emotional investment of a kind gesture, (and of mean ones, as adult internet users should have figured out a loong time ago). So when I read long rants on the internet like OP's, regurgitating obvious social mores (discrimination is bad, mkay), I see nothing but a masturbatory attempt to prove to all these strangers how awesome he is. Meanwhile, the Dames of Destiny, being human beings, have likely forgetten about the issue by now, like any other gamer who gets trash-talked online. Or maybe they haven't forgotten because people are making such a big deal about it. Not saying that what was said to them was acceptable, I'm just saying they probably don't give as much of a -blam!- as OP.

Like, you realize that getting acclaim for being a nice guy isn't a bad thing, right? Even if the deeper motivation is selfish, the external action is a positive one and hence attracts approval. Actually this kind of feedback cycle is kinda how a good community is maintained...

lol don't forget to buff that helmet.
